| About Us
Laurel Behaviour Support Services (LBSS) began in 1969 as the “Laurel House,” a residential treatment centre for people with autism in the Lower Mainland. Over time, LBSS evolved into a community-based organization and joined with posAbilities. Our head office is located in Burnaby and our consultants work with individuals and their families at home or in community settings. We currently provide services for individuals of all ages in the Lower Mainland, southern Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast and the Interior.
Our Early Intensive Behaviour Intervention (EIBI) program for children aged 0-6 years is based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis and delivered through private contract. Qualified consultants are supervised by our Clinical Director William Kent.
We also support individuals from 6-19 years of age that are referred to us by Community Living BC [CLBC]. We have an annual contract to provide behaviour consultation services with this government agency, and once referred, families receive our services free of charge. We also serve individuals over six years of age through private contracts if they do not have a referral from CLBC.
Families receiving Autism Funds from the Ministry of Children and Family Development may use them to purchase our services.
