Our Team
Clinical Director William Kent, MA, BCBA
William joined Laurel Behaviour Support Services in 2007, adding 15 years of field experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and his background in early intervention in typical and special education classroom settings. He is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst certification with a Master of Arts degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis from Teacher’s College at Columbia University with an emphasis in Verbal Behaviour. Originally from the state of New York, William has worked in a variety of settings, including programs for individuals significantly impacted by autism. As the Clinical Director, William is responsible for supervising the LBSS consultants, providing ongoing professional development to his team and supporting families. William has developed and presents workshops such as “The ABC’s of ABA,” an introduction for families and new therapy teams, “Functional Behaviour Assessment,” and teaching strategies for successful inclusion in the classroom.
Service Coordinator Jennifer Oliver, BA, Psychology
Jennifer joined Laurel Behaviour Support Group in 2008 to provide administrative management to the service . Jennifer received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University in 2004, and gained her administrative expertise working for the federal government in the Department of Justice and in private industry. Looking for a meaningful career working in the mental health field, Jennifer enjoys coordinating LBSS staff resources and meeting family needs. Jennifer’s personal interests include caring for her horse “Tango” and other outdoor recreation pursuits such as hiking and skiing.
posAbilities Family Resource Coordinator Monique Nelson, BA, Peace and Conflict Studies
Monique assists posAbilities families and staff by providing information and assistance with accessing programs and services for supported individuals. Her work includes building family support networks and engaging families in social policy and advocacy work. She regularly contributes to posAbilities newsletters and hosts a section of the web site dedicated to family matters. Monique’s professional background is in communications and citizen engagement and prior to joining posAbilities, she worked as a Communications and Consultation Officer for the federal government, and coordinator of non-profit groups. Monique is a mother of two children; one of whom has autism, and actively volunteers in the community.
Consultants
All LBSS consultants are trained in the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). Each consultant has experience working in the field and continues to participate in professional development activities on a regular basis. Consultant credentials range from the Baccalaureate through to Doctorate degrees.
All consultants are qualified to work with a range of children or adults and are skilled in teaching new behaviours to promote the highest level of independence for the individuals we serve. All consultants are supervised by William Kent, who is classified as Category A on the Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP) list maintained by Autism Community Training BC.
